Fifteen Airdrie women will be recognized at the 2024 Amazing Airdrie Women Awards at the Bert Church Theatre this weekend. The awards, which is in its 14th year, will feature 61 nominees from across the 15 award categories.
This year is the first time the awards show will have 15 award categories instead of the usual 10. The 2024 award categories are featured on the Airdrielife website, and range from Amazing Athlete to Amazing Rural Representative.
The full slate of awards are: Amazing Advocate, Amazing Athlete, Amazing Legacy, Amazing workplace–which is presented to a business or organization as a whole–Amazing Cultural Ambassador, Amazing Courage, Amazing Heart, Amazing Determination, Amazing Promise, Amazing Mentor, Amazing Legend, Amazing Rural Rep, Amazing Coach, Amazing employee, and Amazing entrepreneur.
Amazing Legend, Rural Rep., Coach, Employee, and Entrepreneur are all new awards added to the slate for this year.
Award winners are chosen via voting by the Airdrielife editorial team, event sponsors, and previous award winners.
The event begins at 6:00 pm on May 4 at the Bert Church Theatre.
Amy Hef, the recipient of the 2023 Country Music Alberta Horizon Female Artists of the Year, will perform live on the Bert Church Theatre mainstage before the awards are presented, and Global Calgary’s Leslie Horton will be presented with the Honourary Amazing Airdrie Woman award.
Tickets for the night can be purchased at the Bert Church Theatre website for $60, which includes a $10 donation to Airdrie P.O.W.E.R., a local nonprofit that provides resources to women surviving abusive situations.
